Caution
This repository is a workspace copy for navigation, drafting, version control and collaboration. It is not the official statement of government policy and must not be relied on as such. For the official published DVS trust framework data schema, visit GOV.UK.
This repository is a workspace copy of the UK digital verification services (DVS) trust framework data schema, split into one Markdown file per main section under versioned folders. It is designed to make the schema easier to navigate, review, version and reuse.
The authoritative version of the data schema is the publication on GOV.UK. The text hosted here is a workspace mirror.
The DVS trust framework data schema describes how DVS providers and relying parties can organise and exchange information in a consistent way to enable interoperability. It covers two good practice guides:
- GPG 45 — the identity checking process described in How to prove and verify someone's identity.
- GPG 44 — the authentication process described in How to use authenticators to protect an online service.
For each guide, the schema provides:
- a data taxonomy (a description of the hierarchy and classification of the data),
- a data model (a description of the data element names, sub-elements and data types), and
- a data dictionary (names, definitions and attributes for the data elements, plus predefined lists and values).
Use of the data schema is optional for certified services. It is provided to help services demonstrate interoperability with others in the UK and internationally.
This repository currently hosts version 1.0 of the data schema, published to coincide with the 1.0 pre-release of the DVS trust framework.
See VERSIONS.md for how future versions will sit side by side in this repository.
