🛠️ How to Use

Step 1: Run the App on Windows

  1. Go to the Releases page and download the latest localdrop-pro.exe.
  2. Double-click the .exe file to open the server on your PC.

Step 2: Connect Your Phone (iOS/Android)

  1. Make sure your Phone and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Look at the LocalDrop app window on your PC. It will display a specific IP address (e.g., http://192.168.1.5:3000).
  3. Open Safari (on iPhone) or Chrome (on Android) and type that exact address into the URL bar.
  4. Boom! You are connected.

Step 3: Transfer Files

  • PC to Phone: Drag and drop files into the PC app. They will instantly appear on your phone's screen with a download button.
  • Phone to PC: Tap the selection box on your phone, choose your photos/videos, and hit send. A save prompt will appear on your PC.

⚠️ Important Note for Windows 11 Users

Since this is a free, open-source project without a paid Microsoft Code Signing Certificate, Windows 11 "Smart App Control" or Windows Defender SmartScreen might block the .exe file from running, showing an "Unknown Publisher" warning.

This app is 100% safe and runs locally. To fix this and use the app:

If you see a Blue SmartScreen warning:

  • Click on "More info" -> Then click "Run anyway".

If blocked by Smart App Control (Windows 11):

  1. Open your Windows Start Menu and search for Smart App Control.
  2. Open the settings and change it from "On" or "Evaluation" to "Off".
  3. Run the localdrop-pro.exe file again. It will now work perfectly!
