My name is Damien. I'm a senior web application developer based in π«π· France.
I'm part of a 4-person team, building our company's internal applications and customer portal.
We use:
- Linux (Debian or Ubuntu)
- Nginx
- PHP
- MariaDB
- Vue.js
- Symfony
- RabbitMQ
- Docker
I work on the backend and I'm the team's frontend lead. I also keep an eye on our DevSecOps work.
I spend about half of my time on frontend and half on backend development.
- I π₯οΈ write code (obviously),
- make π pizzas and πͺ cookies,
- π¨ paint Warhammer miniatures,
- πΉοΈ play video games when I have time.
After spending so many years building web applications professionally, nowadays I prefer learning older technologies. I find the DOS/Windows 9x era very interesting : having to work with limited hardware resources, old-school programming languages and of course nostalgia.
I started using PCs with Windows 3.11 that didn't have enough RAM to run Duke Nukem 3D, and I learned programming with Visual Basic 6.
That's why most of the code you'll find here targets DOS... (C or Pascal) or Delphi/VB6-style applications built with Lazarus.
I'm currently interested in:
- C / Free Pascal / Lazarus
- DOS programming
- Building small native desktop applications
- Learning how software was written before modern frameworks
If you can't find me on social media, it's totally normal.
- I don't like them
- I think the world would be better without them
And yes, you can argue that GitHub is a social media in some way... You got me.
But if you find something interesting here, feel free to open an issue or start a discussion.
