Release list
v1.2.9 - Spreadsheet-style file list
What''s new
The Clean Names list now looks and feels like a tidy spreadsheet:
- Compact rows with clean gridlines, so a lot more files fit on screen at once.
- A line between the Original and Cleaned columns makes it easy to scan across.
- Selected rows light up across their full width, so it''s obvious what you''ve ticked.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.9.exe below and run it, or let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.8 - A cleaner, roomier Clean Names screen
What''s new
This release is all about making the first screen calmer and easier to work in — more of your files visible at once, less wasted space.
-
Tighter list. The file rows were carrying a lot of empty vertical space. They''re now compact, so you can see many more files without scrolling.
-
Resize the columns. There''s now a divider you can drag between the "Original" and "Cleaned" columns. Grab it and slide to give more room to whichever side you need — handy for long filenames. All rows resize together.
-
The tip is out of the way. The helper tip that used to sit as a banner at the top now appears as a small floating note in the corner when you open the screen, and you can tell it to stop showing. That freed up the whole strip it used to occupy.
-
One slim bottom bar. The two stacked bars at the bottom (the step buttons and the separate Back button) are now combined into a single, much shorter row — Back on the left, your file count or progress in the middle, and the main action on the right.
-
Less gap up top between the step tabs and the toolbar, so the working area starts higher.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.8.exe below and run it, or let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.7 - Scrape by TMDb ID or link
What''s new
When the in-app search picks the wrong movie or show — or for obscure titles it can''t find — you can now point it at the exact TMDb entry instead of searching by name.
In the TMDb search box, type or paste any of these:
- A TMDb ID — e.g.
27205 - An ID with a prefix — e.g.
tmdb:27205 - A TMDb link copied from your browser, for example:
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/27205-inceptionhttps://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1396-breaking-bad
The app fetches that exact title, shows it, and pre-selects it — just click Use Selected. A pasted link from a TV page grabs the show; a movie link grabs the movie, automatically.
Tip: when the title search keeps returning the wrong result, open the correct page on themoviedb.org, copy the address, and paste it in. Regular title search works exactly as before.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.7.exe below and run it, or let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.6 - Easier organizing and a clearer look
What''s new
- Step 2 is simpler now. It puts each loose video into its own folder, created right where the file already is — no need to pick a destination. Movies that are already tidied into their own folders are skipped automatically, so you only see the files that still need sorting.
- Color-coded steps. Clean Names is green, Organize is amber, Scrape is orange, and finished steps get a checkmark — so you always know where you are.
- Progress bar while cleaning. Step 1 now shows a progress bar (and which file it''s on) so you can tell it''s working, especially during metadata cleanup.
- Notifications no longer shrink your window — they float in the corner instead.
- One simple "Select all" checkbox in Steps 1 and 2 (Ctrl+A toggles it). The list now starts with nothing selected, so you choose exactly what to act on.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.6.exe below and run it, or let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.5 - Near-instant startup
What''s new
- Much faster startup — the app is now precompiled to native code, so it launches almost instantly instead of warming up on first run.
The installer is slightly larger as a result (native code takes more space), but the speed boost is well worth it.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.5.exe below and run it, or let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.4 - Quality-of-life improvements
What''s new
- Opens maximized — the app now launches full-screen so you can see your whole list right away.
- Remembers your last folder — Step 1 automatically reopens the folder you worked on last time, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Metadata cleanup reminder — when "Clean metadata" is enabled, the app now lets you know the operation can take a little time on large files and shows a working indicator, so it never looks frozen.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.4.exe below and run it, or just let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.3 — Smarter TV show name detection
What's improved
More episode naming styles now parse correctly, and show names come out cleaner:
- Period-style numbers —
Show 1.01 - Title.mkv/Show.1.05.Title.mkv - Episode-only files —
Show E01.mkv/Show Ep05.mkv(defaults to season 1) - Anime release groups stripped —
[HorribleSubs] Show - 01.mkvno longer leaks the group name into the show name - Year inside parens stripped —
Doctor Who (2005) S01E01.mkvnow produces show nameDoctor Who, notDoctor Who 2005— so TMDb matches the right entry
Combined with v1.2.2's improvements (Season 01, Episode 01, Se01 Ep01, etc.) the detector now covers all the common ways episode files get named in the wild.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.3.exe below and run it, or wait for the in-app update prompt. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.2 — Better TV show name detection
What's improved
TV episode detection now understands a lot more naming styles. Files that previously came through with only the show name (losing season/episode) are now parsed correctly, including:
Show (Season 01, Episode 01 - Title)— comma-separated, inside parenthesesShow Season 1 - Episode 1Show.Season.1.Episode.1- Short forms like
Show Se01 Ep01 - 3-digit episode numbers (
E001) for anime and long-running series
Stray parentheses around the show name and episode title are cleaned up too, so a file like:
Sherlock (Season 01, Episode 01 - A Study in Pink).mp4
now cleans to:
Sherlock - S01E01 - A Study in Pink.mp4
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.2.exe below and run it — or just let the in-app update prompt offer it. Install on top of your existing version; your settings are kept.
v1.2.1 — TMDb search fix
Fix
TMDb recently changed their servers to always send compressed responses. CineLibrary Essentials wasn't decompressing them, which caused TMDb searches to suddenly return no results even though everything was configured correctly.
This release makes the app transparently handle compressed responses, so search, scraping, and image downloads all work normally again. No settings to change — just install and go.
Install
Download CineLibraryEssentials_Setup_1.2.1.exe below and run it (or, if you're on v1.2.0, the in-app update prompt will offer it automatically). Install on top of your existing version — your settings are kept.
v1.2.0 — TV shows, full scraper, Settings, and a lot more
This is a big one. CineLibrary Essentials grows from a movie-prep tool into an all-in-one organizer and scraper for both movies and TV shows.
TV show support 📺
Full end-to-end handling for TV libraries:
- Clean episode filenames into the Kodi/Plex standard
Show - S01E01 - Episode Title - Organize into
Show/Season XX/folders — one folder per season, all episodes together - Scrape writes
tvshow.nfo+ show poster, fanart and cast at the show root, plus a per-episode.nfoand episode thumbnail for every episode - Recognizes both proper
Show/Season XX/layouts and flatShow Season 1 Complete/folders — the show name is read from the episode files, not the folder name
Scrape in your language 🌐
Pick from 16 languages — English, Burmese, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic. TMDb returns titles, plots and posters in your language where available.
A proper Settings page ⚙️
A new gear icon opens one place for your output template, default scan options, scrape language, and update preferences.
Rich Movie Details view 🔎
Double-tap any scraped movie to open a full, resizable details window — hero fanart, poster, plot, colour-coded director / writer / studio / country / genres / IDs / file info, and a scrollable cast strip with photos. Play, Open Folder and Trailer buttons built in. Press Esc to close.
Edition detection 🎬
Director's Cut, Extended, IMAX, 4K Remaster, Theatrical, Unrated, Criterion and more are detected automatically and written into the NFO, so Plex/Kodi group multiple cuts of the same movie correctly.
Verify your existing library ✅
A new Fill gaps only button sweeps a whole library and scrapes just the folders missing something — NFO, poster, fanart, or actor photos. Complete folders are skipped. Each card shows exactly what's missing.
One-click updates 🔔
When a new version ships, the update notice can now download and launch the installer for you — no trip to GitHub.

- Movies / TV / Auto mode selector so the app always knows what you're processing
- Resizable TMDb search window (searches movies or TV depending on the card)
