Client-side Fabric mod. Automatically reconnects after an involuntary disconnect (server kick, timeout, connection loss) - never when you press the pause-menu "Disconnect" button yourself.
Current build: A0.4 (alpha), MC 26.2 only. Grab a built jar from
the Releases page, or build from source with
./gradlew build inside 26.2/. See docs/GUIDE.md for
a full walkthrough of every setting.
GitHub-only, not on Modrinth. A subsequent, silent change to Modrinth's rules disqualifies this mod from that platform, so GitHub Releases is the only distribution channel going forward.
Needs Fabric Loader + Fabric API. Also install Cloth Config API (required) and, optionally, Mod Menu.
- Distinguishes a voluntary disconnect (you clicked the button) from an involuntary one (kick, timeout, connection loss) via a mixin on the exact method the pause-menu's Disconnect button calls - nothing else in the client calls it, so this is unambiguous.
- On an involuntary disconnect, waits 30 seconds, then attempts to reconnect to the same server. If that attempt fails, waits 50 seconds and tries again, then 70, then 90, then 110 - 5 attempts total - then gives up and notifies you (toast + chat message + sound). Each gap is measured from when an attempt actually concludes (success or failure), not from when it started - a slow/hanging connection attempt (e.g. a fully unreachable server taking a while to time out) doesn't eat into the next attempt's wait.
- Only applies to direct-connect/server-list multiplayer. Realms and LAN worlds are out of scope - there's no meaningful "reconnect" for either.
- Tracks disconnects (not just retry attempts) in a rolling 5-minute window. If more than 4 happen in that window - even if each individual reconnect itself succeeds, just getting kicked again almost instantly every time - it gives up on the whole retry sequence instead of looping forever, since that pattern usually points to a client-side problem (ban, crash loop, memory issue) rather than a normal server hiccup.
- Enabled (default: on) - master switch.
- Notification mode:
- Toast only: on-screen toast notifications for every stage (disconnected, attempting, attempt failed, reconnected, gave up).
- Toast and button (default): the same toasts, plus extra widgets
added to the vanilla disconnect screen while relevant:
- A status label showing a live countdown ("Retrying in 47s (attempt 2/5)...") and a Cancel Auto-Reconnect button, shown whenever an attempt is scheduled.
- A Reconnect Now button, shown whenever there's a known server to reconnect to. Mid-wait, it skips straight to the next attempt. If the sequence already gave up (or was cancelled), it fires a single one-off attempt instead - no further automatic retries get scheduled if that one fails too.
- Abort on rapid disconnect loop (default: on) - see the 5-minute window rule above. Turn off to always retry the normal 5-attempt sequence no matter how often it happens.
A "Cancel reconnect attempts" keybind is registered (ships unbound - bind it yourself under Controls) for stopping an in-progress retry sequence from anywhere, e.g. if you know the server's about to go down for maintenance. A client command wasn't viable for this since there's no chat box available on the disconnect/title screen where it's actually needed - the keybind and the disconnect-screen Cancel button both call the same logic.
If either of those mods is installed and was running when the disconnect happened, they'll notice a successful scripted reconnect (via a small reflection-based signal check - no hard dependency either way) and resume automatically after a short settle buffer, regardless of their own "resume after manual reconnect" setting (which only governs reconnects you initiate yourself, including via this mod's own Reconnect Now button).
This mod's code was generated by Claude (Sonnet 5, medium reasoning effort), based on feature requests and iterative in-game testing feedback from the project owner.
