Contributor License Agreement

Thank you for your interest in contributing to steer-core ("the Project"), owned by Nicholas Siemons ("the Maintainer").

By signing this Contributor License Agreement ("CLA"), you agree to the following terms for your present and future contributions to the Project.

1. Definitions

"Contribution" means any original work of authorship, including any modifications or additions to an existing work, that you intentionally submit to the Project for inclusion. "Submit" means any form of communication sent to the Project (e.g., pull requests, issues, commits, or messages), excluding communications conspicuously marked "Not a Contribution."

2. Grant of Copyright License

You hereby grant to the Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contributions and any derivative works thereof, under any license — including proprietary/commercial licenses — without additional compensation to you.

3. Grant of Patent License

You hereby grant to the Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer your Contributions, where such license applies only to patent claims licensable by you that are necessarily infringed by your Contributions alone or in combination with the Project.

4. You Represent That:

  • Each Contribution is your original creation, or you have sufficient rights to grant the licenses above.
  • Your Contribution does not violate any third party's intellectual property rights.
  • If your employer has rights to intellectual property that you create, you have received permission to make Contributions on behalf of that employer, or your employer has waived such rights for your Contributions.

5. No Obligation

You understand that the decision to include your Contribution in the Project is entirely at the discretion of the Maintainer, and this agreement does not obligate the Maintainer to use or include your Contribution.

6. Ongoing Compliance

You agree to notify the Maintainer of any facts or circumstances of which you become aware that would make any of the representations in this CLA inaccurate.

To sign this CLA, contributors will be asked to confirm their agreement via a comment on their pull request.
