Hi, I'm Nick - a backend developer and the solo maintainer of PySentry, a security vulnerability scanner for Python projects.

What it is

PySentry reads your lock files (uv.lock, poetry.lock, and others) and checks every dependency against multiple vulnerability databases - PyPA, OSV, and the PyPI JSON API. It's written in Rust, so it's fast: typically an order of magnitude faster than the Python-based tools it replaces. Free, MIT-licensed, no paywalled core.

Who uses it

PySentry is already used by several projects - including Firebase Genkit (Google's open-source AI framework), OVD-Info (a Russian human rights and legal-aid project), and activist.org.

Why sponsor

I maintain this part-time, on my own. Sponsorship buys me time - to fix bugs, ship the IDE and CI integrations on the roadmap, and keep the core free for everyone instead of fencing it behind a license.

If you or your team runs Python in CI, this is the tool watching your dependency tree. Every tier helps.
