Non-functioning of the Download Backup File option

I clicked the "Download Backup File" option in the Backup section of Settings, but no Save File Dialog opens to specify the backup location, and it seems like it isn't saving at all. I tracked it using the Everything app

Hi, thanks for the report!

A couple of quick questions to help us investigate:

1. What device/OS are you on? (e.g. Windows 11, macOS 15, Android 14…)
2. Could you share a screenshot of what happens the moment you click "Download Backup File"? Even a blank screen or no visible change is useful.

In the meantime, there are two known situations that can silently block the backup download:

• No password set — the backup file is encrypted, so if you haven't set a password in Settings yet, the download may be blocked without showing an error.
• Save Messages are locked

I click the backup button, and I use everything program to monitor all the files inside "thefeeddata" folder, in terms of both modified date and creation date. When I click this button, no files are modified or created. And I think it's portable, meaning it should either be automatically created inside this folder or a save file dialog should pop up, which doesn't.
In the Chrome settings under download options, the option to show a save file dialog for each download is checked
In the permissions section, no download permission is being requested
