Quantmod Charting: Built for Quants Who Miss Cufflinks #6

Description

@kannansingaravelu

I’ve always loved Cufflinks. It’s been my go-to for quick, interactive charts. Super quick, super clean, and super smooth to use. But lately, it’s been breaking all over the place. Many functions are deprecated, and it doesn’t really play well with the latest versions of Plotly. Turns out the last major commit was made about five years ago!

I thought, “Okay, maybe I’ll just fork it and patch things up.” But yeah… that rabbit hole went deep. So I switched to a lightweight wrapper Plotly Express. It worked, kind of, but it just didn’t hit the same. Cufflinks has this way of making charting feel effortless, you know?

So I scrapped that and started fresh using Plotly graph objects. I rebuilt a bunch of my favourite Cufflinks features from scratch and it gets most of my stuff done without drama and feels pretty solid.

I’ve plugged it into my quantmod workflow as the charting module. If you’ve been a Cufflinks fan too (or just miss how easy it used to be), give it a spin. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
