micro-ebusd does not find vaillant/08.recov messages

Hi,

I want to switch to micro-ebusd but cannot make it work with my Vaillant Recovair 260/4. It seems like micro-ebusd does not find the device on the bus:

However, if I am using ebusd on my server (latest docker image without any modifications), I can detect the ventilation unit and the correct message definitions are loaded:

What could be the issue? Is it possible to initiate a new scan of devices on the bus using micro-ebusd?

I also checked with my heating using a second ebus adapter and here everything is discovered out of the box using the same firmware and settings as for my first ebus adapter to the RecovAIR:

If I remember correctly I sometimes had the issue that for my ventilation unit I had to run "ebusctl scan full" some time after starting the service. So maybe it would already help if I could run a full scan also in micro-ebusd.

Please excuse me but maybe you can clarify? In your first screenshot you show a scan from your server instance of ebusd? Here it finds the RecovAIR on bus address 08.

In the later image you show a completely different file loaded at the 08 address - this looks consistent with the PCB from a heat pump control unit - (HMU = 'Heat Pump Management Unit'.) And you make the comment "I also checked with my heating "

It feels like you have two 08 type devices (generically, Vaillant-speak: 'Heat Sources') on the same bus? I can't see how that's ever going to work (properly) in ebus let alone ebusd.

Could it be it has accidentally worked for you because you only have one of these devices active at the same time? Re-scanning would indeed match a different hardware identifier to the 08 bus address if one device is switched off and the other on.

But I could be wrong because I can't understand how a qualified Vaillant engineer would ever configure a system like this - they'd typically tell you to cough up for a VR32 bus adapter for your secondary 'heat'/(cooling) source

Sorry for the confusion. I have two different ebus adapters which are connected independently to my ventilation unit and my heat pump. I just wanted to show that micro-ebusd works for my heat pump, but does not work for my ventilation unit using the same settings and firmware.

For my ventilation unit I have to use ebusd running on my server to make it work. Here, I have to always run "ebusctl scan full" to actually find the RecovAIR on the bus. Maybe it would also work with micro-ebusd if I could run "ebusctl scan full", but it seems like there is no such option.

meanwhile you can add explicit scan addresses in the configuration tab. this should help in that case

Thanks for your fix! This has worked for me with Vailant recoVAIR VAR 260/4 (02/2023) using 08 in the scan address field.

I’d like to chime in as well.
I’ve been trying for months to read out the Recovair.

At one point I was able to retrieve data, but I couldn’t write anything, and since then I haven’t been able to get any useful communication anymore.

My setup:
Recovair 260 (standalone) with a VRC 700/6 and either an Esera EBC 100 or an ebusd adapter v3.1.

No configuration gets loaded, and the device doesn’t respond.
At this point I’m honestly completely lost, as I’ve already tried so many different things.

Does anyone have any ideas or is willing to help?
