taxonomy registration	needs to be done manually	automatically, but with rigid name scheme '_connect', that can not be filtered

GatherPress could open up its shadow-term creation as a registrable post type support.

If that would be implemented

• with the current function
• as post type support (=consumable from the editor clientside)
• with flexible naming

... it could be the best of all options.

No need to compare anymore, after GatherPress provides the infrastructure now, since GatherPress/gatherpress#1569 is merged.
