Corrupted file GloFAS #226

Description

@d-andrievskaia

Dear devs,

I am currently preparing LISFLOOD simulations using the GloFAS datasets available on the JRC website and encountered an issue with one of the NetCDF files, dom_Global2_03min_1975_2023.nc in the Water demand section.

The file downloads successfully and its size matches the size reported on the download page. However, it cannot be opened by any NetCDF-compatible software that I tested: Python, ncdump, Panoply. Panoply reports the following error: "There was an error opening the dataset: file is truncated". Similarly, NetCDF tools report HDF/NetCDF read errors, suggesting that the file structure may be corrupted or incomplete.

I re-downloaded the file multiple times and obtained the same result each time. Other files can be opened correctly. I also noticed that this particular group of files (water demand) appears to have been uploaded more recently, approximately two weeks ago. I am therefore wondering whether the file may have been corrupted during publication.

Could you please check whether this issue is occurring on your side as well? If so, would it be possible to upload a stable/corrected version of the file?

In addition, I would like to ask a related question: I could not find information about the meteorological forcing data used to generate the GloFAS products. Could you point me to the corresponding dataset description or documentation (e.g. precipitation, temperature, etc)?

Thank you for your help,
Daria
