Home Assistant automatic backups to SMB shares on 2026.7.1 are failing when BirdNet-PiPy is included in backup

Long story short:

Home Assistant 2026.6.4 + BirdNet-PiPy 7.5 resulted in successful automatic backups to SMB shares.

However, HASS 2026.7.1 + BirdNet-PiPy 7.5 or 8.2.1 result in failed backups to SMB shares.

It is highly likely this is a HASS issue, not a BirdNet issue, but I thought I'd post it here in case any other folks come looking for answers to similar problems.

thanks for reporting! yeah, it looks like this might be a HA issue. how big is the backup?
