I compiled and tested with Thunderbird 78.8.0 (64-bit) on Arch Linux.
Looks good to me except that for some reason the automatic selection of
unicode text encoding works for the digest but misses some accents on
the undigested, so that I had to manually select the western text encoding.
Here you have the digest and the extracted email:
digest-undigest.zip
and finally, here you have a screenshot of how the extracted email looks like (without manually fixing the viewer encoding):
